Walter E. Williams

Walter Williams was born and raised in Brookfield, Missouri. He graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in general business and with a law degree from the University of Missouri. He practiced law with a firm in Webb City from 1975 to 1981. Since 1981, he has practiced in Joplin with Charles Buchanan. Walter was Commissioner of the Joplin Adult Soccer League for approximately five years and was the Youth Soccer Coach for his children. He continues to play soccer even though he is approaching fifty years of age. He regularly participates in half marathon runs throughout the United States and his other hobbies include power boating, fishing, jogging and snow skiing. Walter is married and has two daughters.

Walter was co-counsel for Joe and Joyce Cruzan in the Nancy Cruzan case. This case attracted world-wide attention and continues to be the leading case from the United States Supreme Court on the difficult issues related to the right to die. When the case was finally decided by the United States Supreme Court, the case was the lead story throughout the world and was the first right to die case decided by the United States Supreme Court. Walter handled the case without a fee.

Walter does general practice with emphasis in family law, bankruptcy, probate and general civil litigation.
